Rotating Art Show

Telling Stories with Oil & Canvas: The Fine Art of David Beal will be on display in the first floor conference room of the Town Hall (1200 Duck Rd) from Friday, May 3 through Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

David Beal, American Realist, works largely by commission creating private, corporate and academic portraits, figurative works, still lifes and murals.David started his career early…he was recognized at the age of sixteen by President Gerald Ford for large historical mural installations he created for libraries and public buildings in the upper Midwest/U.S.  At age 18, he moved from Ohio to New York, where he studied drawing and painting at the Art Students League of New York under Robert Beverly Hale, curator of American paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, illustrator Robert Emil Schulz and pastel master Daniel Greene. He received his commercial art training at The Columbus College of Art and Design, in Columbus, Ohio.

As a commercial artist, he created hundreds of greeting cards, calendars, posters and other products for Hallmark Cards and Morningstar Cards. He has also illustrated for Billy & Ruth Graham, Thomas Nelson Publishing, Standard Publishing and many national corporations.

His oil painting Profile of Alexander appeared on the cover of The Artist’s Magazine, and he has been featured in Southwest Art, The Artist’s Magazine and American Artist’ magazines. His anatomical/figure drawings are in the permanent collection of the Art Students League of New York, NYC, New York. His executive and academic portraits are in the permanent collections of Truman State University, Kansas University, Hillyard Chemicals, as well as in many private collections. He shows actively in galleries across the U.S., and currently resides in Kitty Hawk, NC.
