2025 4th of July Parade Grand Marshal- Jon Britt

The Town of Duck is pleased to announce that Jon Britt will serve as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 4th of July Parade and Community Celebration which will take place on Friday, July 4, 2025 at 9:00 a.m[KN1] .

Jon Britt is a native of the Outer Banks. In 1977, his parents, Joe and Barbara Britt, moved the family to Duck and established two local businesses: Britt Real Estate and Nor’Banks Sailing. After earning his degree from Wake Forest University, Jon returned to Duck to build his life and career. He, along with his wife Lori and their son Will, lived in Duck until 2023, when they relocated to Southern Shores. Jon remains closely connected to Duck, maintaining both residential and commercial property interests in the town.

Throughout his years in Duck, Jon Britt made significant contributions to the community through dedicated public service. He was an active member of the Duck Civic Association from 1991 until the Town’s incorporation in 2002 and served with the Duck Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years (1992–2022), retiring at the rank of Captain. Jon also served on the Town’s Planning Board from 2003 to 2012, including terms as Vice-Chairman (2004–2008) and Chairman (2008–2012). In 2012, he was elected to the Duck Town Council, where he served until 2019. During his tenure, he also acted as Council’s liaison to the Planning Board, continuing his long-standing commitment to thoughtful community development.

Jon and his family played a significant role in the development and success of the Duck Trail through their dedicated work on the Duck Trail Committee. Prior to the Town’s incorporation in 2002, Duck was part of unincorporated Dare County. During that time, Jon and the committee worked diligently to garner community support for the trail project. Their efforts culminated in a successful vote to fund the trail’s construction through a local tax increase.

Jon and his family have served and supported the community through meaningful leadership, both before and after the Town’s incorporation. He is deeply honored to represent his family as the Grand Marshal of this year’s 4th of July Parade.
