It is with heavy hearts and deep regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2025 Duck Jazz Festival, which was set to take place on October 11-12, 2025. After extensive consultation with Dare County Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, Town Manager, Police Chief, and Fire Chief, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the festival due to the significant and hazardous weather conditions expected this weekend.
Over the past week, we have been closely monitoring the situation, holding out hope that we could move forward with the event. The safety of our community, visitors, volunteers, and performers has remained our top priority. With the impending coastal storm bringing high winds, heavy rainfall, and the potential for flooding, we are faced with conditions that present serious risks to public safety, making it impossible to proceed as originally planned.
This is not a decision we made lightly. The Duck Jazz Festival is a beloved event that holds great meaning for our town and its residents. We share in the disappointment of this cancellation, and we know how much this festival means to so many. Our thanks go out to the countless volunteers, sponsors, performers, and partners who have worked so hard to prepare for this year’s event.
