Below is a summary of the December Planning Board Meeting:
New Board Member Tom Burton was sworn in and welcomed. The Board held elections to fill the void left by Chairman Murray’s election to Council. Vice-Chair Wetzel was nominated for Chair and received a 3-2 vote making him the new Planning board Chair. Member Bob Webb was nominated for Vice-Chair and received a 5-0 vote in favor.
Planning Board reviewed and recommended sending draft zoning text amendments to Town Council at their January meeting relating to outdoor shower exemptions and a clean-up regarding lot coverage and alternative ground cover agreements.
UNC School of Government Planning Board responsibilities were provided to the Board, and it was decided that the Board would entertain virtual training from the School of Government over the course of the next several months as time allows. The Board will also begin a review of the current zoning Land Use development regulations to begin identifying areas that may need further review.
