The suspect sought in connection with a hit-and-run collision involving an electric-assisted bicycle and a vehicle that occurred on Monday, February 17, 2025, near 1209 Duck Road has been arrested.
Late Tuesday evening, a concerned community member provided the Duck Police Department with critical information regarding the expected location of Arturo Garcia Gutierrez, 48, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The tip indicated that Mr. Gutierrez would be in Nags Head on Wednesday, February 19. Acting on this tip, the Duck Police Department partnered with the Nags Head Police Department to locate the suspect.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, Nags Head officers located and arrested Mr. Gutierrez without incident. He was transported to the Dare County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond pending his appearance before a judge within 48 hours.
