Town Council Meeting Recap | April 2026

Below is a recap of the April 1, 2026 Town Council Meeting:

  • Council adopted Resolution 26-04, declaring the month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month
  • Council adopted Resolution 26-05, declaring April 10, 2026, as “Local News Day”
  • Council adopted Resolution 26-06, declaring the month of April as Fair Housing Month
  • Council recognized Fire Captain Brandon Boyd and Community Engagement Coordinator Betsy Trimble each for 10 years of service
  • Riley Young of Outer Banks Water Safety, the Town’s surf rescue contractor, gave a short presentation on their operations
  • Council authorized the Town Manager to execute an installment purchase agreement with Towne Bank for the purchase of a ladder truck for the fire department
  • Council tabled Ordinance 26-05, amending the Town Code, related to Chapter 91, Loud and Disturbing Noise until the fall
  • Council adopted Ordinance 26-06 amending the Town Code, related to Chapter 10, Peddlers and Vendors
  • Council tabled Resolution 26-03 until the May 6, 2026, meeting
  • Council authorized staff to advertise for two vacancies on the Planning Board, but wanted it noted in the advertisement that the vacancies were for the current Planning Board Chair and Vice Chair, who have indicated their desire to be reappointed at Council’s May 6, 2026, meeting
  • Council authorized the Town Manager to draft a resolution in support of the Mid-Currituck Bridge Project
  • Council approved a grant award from NC Trails
  • The next meeting will be the Mid-Month meeting on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 1:00pm
