Below is a recap from the December Council Meeting:
- Five Council members were sworn in by Town Clerk Lori Ackerman
- Council elected Monica Thibodeau as the new Mayor and Sandy Whitman as the new Mayor Pro Tempore
- Deputy Police Chief Melissa Clark was recognized for 15 years of service with the Town
- Maintenance Technician Kim Pittman was recognized for receiving the third quarter Town of Duck SOAR award
- Council adopted Resolution 25-17, honoring and thanking Mayor Don Kingston for his service to the Town of Duck
- Mayor Kingston was presented with framed Resolution 25-17
- Dare County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robert Woodard presented Mayor Kingston with a framed certificate, thanking him for his service
- DCBA President Kevin Wright presented Mayor Kingston with a certificate of appreciation, thanking him for his service
- Council appointed Thomas Burton to fill the unexpired vacancy on the Planning Board for a term to expire on May 1, 2028
- Council appointed Councilor Kevin Lingard to serve on the Government Access Channel
- Council appointed Mayor Pro Tempore Sandy Whitman to serve as the Council liaison to the Planning Board
- Council appointed Councilor Kevin Lingard to serve as the Council liaison to the Parks and Recreation Committee
- Council appointed Councilor Marc Murray to serve on the Albemarle RPO Rural Transportation Advisory Committee
- Council appointed Mayor Monica Thibodeau and Mayor Pro Tempore Sandy Whitman as the check signatories for the Town
- Council discussed and approved the 2026 Council meeting date schedule, with a change to the date of the annual Retreat to February 24-25, 2026
- Council discussed and approved the 2026-2027 budget calendar with the change to the date of the annual Retreat
