Below is a summary of the May Town Council meeting:
- Council passed Resolution 25-08, declaring the week of May 11-17, 2025, as National Memorial Police Week
- Master Police Officer Mitchell Ardinger was sworn in as Duck Police Department’s Corporal
- Director of Community Development Joseph Heard was presented with Resolution 25-10, in appreciation upon his retirement from the Town of Duck, which was subsequently passed by Council
- Council held a legislative public hearing on Ordinance 25-01 for an ordinance updating penalties for violating the tree preservation standards in Subsection 156.137(J) of the Town Code. Council approved the ordinance with a 5-0 vote
- Council held a legislative public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget. The budget will be brought back to Council’s June 4, 2025 meeting for a vote
- Council authorized the Town Manager to execute a contract for beach/dune planting for Caribbean Landscaping for one year
- Council authorized a public hearing for June 4, 2025 for Ordinance 25-03, which adds Subsection 156.053(C) to the Town Code allowing additions to match the height of the existing roofline for legally, nonconforming residences up to a maximum of one additional foot
- Council wished Director Heard well on his upcoming retirement
- Council authorized the Town Manager to draft a letter from the Mayor in support of Senate Bill 576
- The next meeting will be the Regular Meeting on Wednesday, June 4 at 1:00pm
