Town Council Meeting Recap | November 6

Below is a recap of the November 6, 2024 Town Council Meeting:

  • Council approved a letter of support for the Our State Our Homes initiative
  • Council adopted Resolution 24-14, approving a contract to purchase real property owned by the Herron family and related authorizations
  • Council held a quasi-judicial public hearing for SUP 24-006, a special use permit application from NC Coast Restaurant, to expand the capacity of the current restaurants with seating not to exceed 80 indoor and outdoor seats for lunch service, 2,324 square feet of outdoor dining areas, and three employees for dinner service.  Council voted 5-0 on the application
  • Council held a quasi-judicial public hearing for SUP 24-008, a special use permit application from William and Lory Gray, to construct a retaining wall to contain and support fill up to 2.8 feet in height at 146 Cook Drive.  Council voted 5-0 on the application.
  • Council held a legislative public hearing on Ordinance 24-04, an amendment to the Town standards and definition of Lot Coverage in Section 156.002 of the Town Code regarding allowances for pervious surface materials for single-family residences.  Council voted 4-1 to send the ordinance back to the Planning Board for more concrete mechanisms and examples of the procedures involved to regulate it
  • Council voted 5-0 to nominate Brenda Chasen, Kevin Lingard, and Sandy Whitman to serve as a replacement for Monica Thibodeau on the Dare County Tourism Board, whose term is expiring in December
  • Council voted 5-0 to authorize Town staff to work with the Planning Board on several text amendments
  • The next meeting will be the Regular Meeting on Wednesday, December 4 at 1:00pm
