Upcoming Pedestrian Crossing Improvements Scheduled for May 19–20

Long-anticipated pedestrian safety improvements are set to move forward this month. American Road Marking will be on-site from May 19 through May 20 to implement several upgrades identified through the NCDOT/VHB Pedestrian Study. These improvements are designed to enhance safety and visibility at key pedestrian crossings throughout the Town.

Planned Improvements Include:

Sunset Grille Area:

  • Installation of a “Bike Lane Ends” sign (southbound)
  • New pavement markings to improve the bike lane transition

Christopher Drive:

  • Painted pedestrian refuge median
  • Flexible delineator poles and new signage

Scarborough Lane Shoppes:

  • Painted pedestrian refuge median
  • Flexible delineator poles and new signage 

Aqua Area:

  • Painted pedestrian refuge median
  • Flexible delineator poles and new signage
  • Installation of a “Bike Lane Ends” sign (northbound)
