TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 31 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 179 business checks were made. 1 unsecured door was found.
  • 12 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Water Rescue (Duck Road)

On December 14, 2025, officers were dispatched to a possible kite boarder in distress. Officers determined the kite boarder did not need assistance.

  • Arrest (Duck Road)

On December 16, 2025, an officer observed a careless and reckless vehicle speeding and illegally passing two vehicles using the center turn lane. Upon stopping the vehicle, it was determined that the driver was not licensed. The 38-year-old, female driver, Reina Reyes-Posada of Kill Devil Hills, was arrested and charged with not having an operator’s license and reckless driving to endanger. Posada was held in the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of a $1,000 secured bond.

  • Fraud (Oyster Catcher Lane)

On December 17, 2025, officers were dispatched to a credit card fraud. The victim reported three unauthorized transactions that occurred the previous week. This case remains under investigation.

  • Suspicious Vehicle (Duck Road)

On December 17, 2025, officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Investigation found the vehicle belonged to an employee getting off work at a neighboring business.

  • Alarm Call (Duck Landing Lane)

On December 18, 2025, officers were dispatched to an unknown alarm. Upon arrival officers found the alarm sound coming from smoke detectors that had been disposed of in a trashcan.

  • Suspicious Condition (Ocean Bay Boulevard)

On December 18, 2025, officers were dispatched after the caller reported finding shoe prints around the home that were not there earlier in the day. Investigation found that a pest control company had been at the residence.
