TRAFFIC
- Officers issued 8 traffic enforcement actions during the week.
PROPERTY CHECKS
- 80 business checks were made. No unsecured doors were found.
- 16 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.
INCIDENTS OF INTEREST
- Careless and Reckless (Duck Road / West Tuckahoe Drive)
On December 2, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to locating two vehicles that were driving recklessly. Officers located the vehicle parked near 118 West Tuckahoe Drive. A consensual encounter was conducted. The driver was found to not have a driver’s license. The driver was advised to have a licensed driver come and drive the vehicle away.
- Child Abuse (Plover Drive)
On December 3, 2024, Dare County Department of Social Services received information from Montgomery County, Maryland Department of Social Services, that an assault occurred while a family was on vacation in summer 2024. The assault was recently disclosed by the victim and mandatory reporting requirements dictated the call to Dare County. A local investigation is pending further information. There is an open investigation in Montgomery County, Maryland for similar crimes.
- Larceny by Employee (Duck Road)
On December 6, 2024, officers were dispatched to a prior larceny. A business manager advised that four days earlier they discovered $386.00 worth of seafood missing from a freezer at the restaurant. A review of security footage showed two employees loading boxes from the restaurant into their vehicles. The business owner is deciding if formal charges will be filed.
