TRAFFIC

• Officers issued 27 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

• 152 business checks were made. 2 unsecured doors were found.

• 3 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

• Arrest (Duck Road / Sea Oats Trail)

On December 28, 2025, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation. The driver admitted to illegally possessing a concealed firearm in the vehicle. Due to the driver’s behavior and other indications of illegal activity, a police K-9 and handler were requested from the Southern Shores Police Department. The K-9 indicated that narcotics were present in the vehicle and a physical search of the vehicle yielded illegal narcotics. Tyrone James Taylor, 35 years-of-age of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with 4 felony counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, one felony count of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and carrying of a concealed firearm. Taylor was held at the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 secured bond.

• Intrusion/Burglary Alarm (Duck Road)

On December 29, 2025, officers were dispatched to an audible alarm at the above address. Upon arrival, there were no signs of forced entry and the business was secure. The alarm was determined to be a false activation.
