TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 20 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 179 business checks were made. 2 unsecured doors were found.
  • 4 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Larceny Prior (Duck Road)

On January 30, 2026, officers were dispatched to the report of a prior larceny where the suspect was seen loading materials that were not paid for. This occurred on several occasions. As a result of the investigation, criminal charges will be filed against the suspect this week.

  • Suspicious Condition (Mallard Drive)

On January 31, 2026, officers were dispatched to a “bright flashing light” seen by the caller on a surveillance camera. The area was checked but officers could not locate the source of the light.  

  • Assist Person (Mallard Drive)

On January 31, 2026, officers were dispatched to a water leak at the above address. It was determined that the leak was coming from the exterior water main, but due to the wintry conditions, the shutoff valve could not to be located. The Dare County Water Department was contacted.

TRAFFIC CRASHES

  • Motor Vehicle Crash (Duck Road)

On January 31, 2026, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle that slid off the road causing damage to landscaping and utilities at the above location. No injuries.

  • 50.3% of the vehicles that entered Duck passed through to Currituck County last week. The ALPRs were offline on January 31 due to snow covering the solar panels.
