TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 25 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 163 business checks were made. No unsecured doors were found.
  • 3 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Fight in Progress (Duck Road)

On June 8, 2025, officers were dispatched to a physical altercation in progress between the driver of a vehicle and two bicyclists. Conflicting descriptions of the suspects were provided to the responding officers who were unable to locate the suspects.

  • Missing Person (Four Seasons Lane)

On June 9, 2025, officers were dispatched to the above address in reference to a lost child. The child was told to walk from the playground to the rental home the family was staying in. The child was located on the beach by ocean rescue personnel.

  • Attempted Larceny (Choctaw Court)

On June 10, 2025, officers were dispatched to the above address after two juvenile males were seen on surveillance video trying to steal a golf cart parked under the residence. Officers were unable to locate the juveniles in the area.

  • Missing Person (Duck Landing Lane)

On June 12, 2025, officers were dispatched to the above address in reference to a lost child. The caller believed the child was on the beach, which prompted a search to begin there. A short time later the child was located by the mother on the second floor of their rental home. 

  • Assault (Duck Road)

On June 12, 2025, officers were dispatched to the Han-dee Hugo regarding an assault. After viewing video footage, officers learned that a suspect attempted to purchase tobacco with a fake identification card. When the cashier held up the fake identification card the suspect grabbed the cashier’s hand and snatched the fake identification card from her. Officers identified the suspect as Colby Franken of Williamsburg, Virginia and obtained a criminal summons for assault.

  • Suspicious Condition (Duck Road)

On June 12, 2025, an officer attempted to make contact with two juveniles riding bicycles with no lighting. The juveniles abandoned their bicycles and fled on foot. The juveniles were not located.

  • Attempt to Locate (Dune Road)

On June 13, 2025, officers were asked to locate a male, who suffered from a medical condition, who left the residence on foot. Kitty Hawk officers located the male and verified he was ok.  

  • Suspicious Condition (Rakiock Court)

On June 14, 2025, officers were dispatched to the above address in reference to a suspicious condition involving ongoing issues throughout the week with friends of the caller who had visited the caller’s Duck home and caused problems. It was alleged these friends threw items into the caller’s pool, but due to the darkness at the time, the suspects could not be positively identified. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects.  

TRAFFIC CRASHES

  • Duck Road / Wampum Drive

On June 9, 2025, a crash occurred when a pick-up truck stopped in the northbound lane and a small sedan traveling behind the truck was unable to stop in time resulting in a rear end collision with the truck.  

  • Duck Road / Duck Landing Lane

On June 10, 2025, a deer ran across Duck Road and the struck the front of a vehicle. An officer euthanized the badly injured deer. 

  • Parking Lot of 1187 Duck Road

On June 12, 2025, an occupied and parked patrol car was struck by a vehicle backing out of another parking space. Minimal damage was reported. No charges were filed. 

  • Duck Road / Nor’Banks Drive

On June 14, 2025, a crash occurred when a vehicle came to a quick stop in heavy traffic and the vehicle behind that vehicle was unable to stop in time resulting in a rear end collision.
