- Officers issued 28 traffic enforcement actions during the week.

PROPERTY CHECKS
- 174 business checks were made. No unsecured doors were found.
- No extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.
INCIDENTS OF INTEREST
- Dispute (Settlers Lane)
On May 18, 2026, officers responded to a dispute involving a male subject being locked out of his home after a disagreement. The female party allowed him to gather his belongings and vacate the residence.
- Verbal Dispute (Duck Road)
On May 18, 2026, officers responded after a patron reported being refused service. The patron was gone prior to the officer’s arrival, and no further law enforcement action was required.
- Missing Person (Sound Sea Avenue)
On May 19, 2026, officers responded to a missing elderly male. The caller reported that the male frequently leaves the residence late at night and walks towards Corolla. The male left the home approximately two hours before officers were called to assist. Officers were able to quickly locate the missing male using the location feature on the Apple watch the male was wearing.
- Brandishing a Firearm (Duck Road)
On May 19, 2026, officers took a report from security personnel about an incident that occurred on May 13th. Security personnel advised that while assisting a person who had fallen, a male on scene picked up a firearm and was twirling it around carelessly. Security personnel requested the incident be documented.
- Larceny (Christopher Drive Beach Access)
On May 20, 2026, officers responded to a report of a stolen bicycle. Two days later, the victim reported that he had located the bicycle and was able to retrieve it without incident.
- Arrest (Duck Road)
On May 22, 2026, officers responded to a report of a naked male in the parking lot. Officers arrived and found the male sitting in a pickup truck. Witnesses provided photographic evidence of the male walking around naked and defecating in public. 42-year-old Jeffery Fields of Duck, North Carolina, was arrested for indecent exposure and driving while impaired. Fields urinated in the back of the police vehicle while enroute to Manteo. Fields registered a 0.28 BAC and was held at the Dare County Detention Center under a $2500 secured bond. Additional charges are pending for damage to government property, driving while license revoked, and possessing an open container of alcohol. To be continued…
- Larceny (Duck Road)
On May 23, 2026, 42-year-old Jeffery Fields of Duck, North Carolina posted bond and traveled back to Duck. Fields stole three cans of beer and consumed them in view of a surveillance camera. Officers located Fields the next day and charged him with misdemeanor larceny.
TRAFFIC CRASHES
- Duck Road
On May 17, 2026, a vehicle was in the driveway waiting to exit the business. A second vehicle pulling forward from the gas pumps struck the first vehicle on the driver’s side. No injuries were reported.
- Duck Road and Poteskeet Drive
On May 17, 2026, a south bound vehicle was slowing for traffic when it was hit from behind by the following vehicle. No injuries were reported.
- Duck Road and Duck Ridge Village Court
On May 18, 2026, a south bound truck turned east onto Duck Ridge Village Court but failed to yield to northbound traffic. A northbound vehicle struck the truck nearly head-on. No injuries were reported.
