TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 13 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 104 business checks were made. No unsecured doors were found.
  • No extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Damage to Property / Public Intoxication (Ocean Crest Way)

On May 7, 2025, officers received a call for an impaired adult male damaging property. The suspect was transported to the Outer Banks Hospital. A family member of the suspect’s paid for the damaged property. In exchange, the victim did not file criminal charges.

  • Suspicious Condition (E Seahawk Drive)

On May 8, 2025, an out-of-town homeowner saw an adult male near her downstairs exterior door on a video surveillance system. The homeowner became concerned when the male appeared to be shaking or jiggling a door handle. Officers investigated and found the male was a subcontractor attempting to leave a business card in the door. The homeowner was advised that no crime had been committed.

  • Fight (Duck Road)

On May 9, 2025, officers responded to Sunset Grille and Raw Bar in reference to a fight that occurred between employees. Officers located and arrested the primary aggressor, 35-year-old Tameo Bashford of Charlotte, North Carolina, who was charged with simple assault. The suspect was held at the Dare County Detention Center on a $2,000.00 secured bond.

  • Structure Fire (Four Seasons Lane)

On May 10, 2025, officers responded to a fully involved structure fire. The first arriving officer provided vital information to responding firefighters, ensured the occupants of the house had safely been evacuated, and ensured their safety.  Officers conducted interviews and provided crowd control to assist the Fire Department.
