TRAFFIC

• Officers issued 14 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

• 153 business checks were made. 1 unsecured door was found.

• 6 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

• Communicating Threats (Duck Road)

On November 12, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to a dispute between the store clerk and a customer. The clerk refused to sell the customer a tobacco product because there was an issue with the customer’s ID. The argument was verbal. When the customer left the business the clerk followed and continued the argument. The clerk advised that the customer climbed into a Penske rental truck and lifted his shirt showing a handgun while stating “I will end you.” The incident wasn’t reported until 30 minutes after the suspect left the scene. The suspect vehicle was located on one of the Dare County Sheriff’s Office ALPR cameras as it left Dare County. Officers outside of Dare County were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. The clerk declined to press criminal charges.  

• Injury to Property (Flight Drive and Duck Road)

On November 16, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to a damaged sign, which was owned by the homeowners association. Officers determined the sign was damaged by high winds, not a malicious act.
