- Officers issued 23 traffic enforcement actions during the week.
PROPERTY CHECKS
- 150 business checks were made. 0 unsecured doors were found.
- 10 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.
INCIDENTS OF INTEREST
- Assist Person (Waxwing Lane)
On October 16, 2025, an officer was on proactive patrol in the above area when he was flagged down by an elderly man walking on foot. The officer spoke with the subject who advised that he was lost and could not find his way home. It was quickly discovered by the officer that the subject suffered from Alzheimer’s. The officer was able to locate his home and the subject was reunited with his wife.
- Dispute (Dune Road)
On October 16, 2025, officers responded to the above address regarding a dispute. The officers arrived on scene and found that the two parties were already separated. This is an ongoing dispute between two neighbors. The caller advised that his next-door neighbor had a truck parked up front that was partially in his yard. He confronted the neighbor, and he refused to move the truck, and they proceeded to have a verbal argument. The officers spoke with both parties, and they advised that they would do their best to stay away from each other going forward.
- Schedule Violation (Speckle Trout Drive)
On October 18, 2025, officers responded to the above address regarding a schedule violation. A cleaner was at the house preparing the home for its next renters and found a small amount of marijuana inside of the residence. The officer collected the marijuana and it was subsequently destroyed.
- Suspicious Person (Duck Road)
On October 18, 2025, officers responded to the Aqua Restaurant regarding a suspicious male who was acting erratic at the restaurant. The caller advised that the subject came into the bar for a few drinks and then began jumping around and making everyone uncomfortable. He was asked to leave and went out to the parking lot where he continued to act strangely and was looking into customers’ vehicles. Officers were unable to locate the subject after checking the area. A description was provided, and the owner was advised to call back if he returns.
- Schedule Violation (Duck Road)
On October 18, 2025, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to the driver texting while driving and following too closely. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Subsequently, the officer conducted a search of the vehicle and a small amount of marijuana was found. It was collected by the officer and destroyed.
TRAFFIC CRASHES
- Duck Road and Seabreeze Drive
On October 15, 2025, officers responded to a vehicle crash involving a single vehicle and a deer. The vehicle was traveling northbound in the above area when the deer ran across the street. The driver was unable to stop in time resulting in a collision with the deer.
- Duck Road
On October 18, 2025, officers responded to the above area regarding a rear end collision. A vehicle was heading southbound on NC 12 and came to a stop to allow pedestrians to cross the crosswalk in front of this address. The vehicle following was unable to stop in time resulting in a rear end collision with the front vehicle.
