ABOUT THE TOWN OF DUCK

The Town of Duck, North Carolina, is a thriving coastal community. This balloon (and five others!) were found on the beach this morning. Thankfully, no sea life had ingested it, but the environmental impact is still real. 🐢💔Balloons may seem harmless, but they pose significant dangers to wildlife and our environment. Do you know why? Marine Life Danger: Many sea creatures, like turtles and seabirds, mistake balloons for food. When ingested, they can block their digestive systems, leading to death. Slow Degradation: Balloons made of latex take months or even years to biodegrade, while Mylar balloons, made from plastic, can take much longer—up to a thousand years! 🌍Entanglement Hazard: Balloons' ribbons or strings can entangle marine animals, making it hard for them to swim, eat, or breathe. So what can you do? There are eco-friendly alternatives to balloons that are just as festive without the environmental harm:🎉 Fabric Banners & Streamers: Reusable and customizable for any event.🎉 Paper Decorations: Opt for biodegradable, colorful paper flowers or pom-poms.🎉 Plant- Based Decor: Use flowers to brighten up your space! 🎉Biodegradable Confetti: Use rice paper or dried flowers for an eco-friendly celebration.Congrats to the happy family celebrating their newest addition! 💖 But wouldn't you want to ensure that this little one grows up in a clean, healthy environment? 🌍💚 Let's choose eco-friendly celebrations that protect our planet and future generations! 🌱📸 Kevin Lingard (don't worry folks, the balloons were properly disposed of! Thank you, Kevin!) ... See MoreSee Less
