IMPORTANT SAFETY AND SECURITY NOTICEThe Field Research Facility (FRF), located at 1261 Duck Road, is an active U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) research site that uses specialized instruments and equipment to study waves, currents, and coastal change. These tools are mounted on steel pipes driven into the seafloor, some of which may be visible above the water during low tides. They are essential for research but pose serious risks to anyone nearby.‼️There is no trespassing allowed anywhere on FRF property.‼️ Swimming, surfing, fishing, and unauthorized access are strictly prohibited. The area is clearly marked with fences, ropes, and warning signs. Trespassing is dangerous and illegal, and may result in federal criminal charges and significant fines. The property was once a bombing and rocket range, and old ordnance may still be found in the area. If you see something suspicious, do not touch it. Recognize, retreat, and report – call 911.Please respect all posted boundaries and help keep everyone safe while supporting vital coastal research.Remember, the FRF is federal property. It is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineersunder the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). As such, it is owned and maintained by the federal government, and all applicable federal laws regarding access, trespassing, and property protection apply. For full details and a PDF from the USACE, please visit: bit.ly/3HAW47q ...
