Winged Horses in Duck

In early 2002, Outer Banks Press embarked on a unique public art project to commemorate the 2003 Centennial of Flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The Winged Horse Extravaganza featured 99 life-size fiberglass horses adorned with aluminum aircraft wings, each a stunning masterpiece created by local and regional artists.

Mallard, The Stallion of Duck

In November 2023, the Town of Duck was donated a horse statue to refinish and install in the Town Park for everyone to enjoy. What began as a tiny idea became something so much greater, and we are so thrilled to preserve a piece of Outer Banks history right here in the heart of Duck.

The Story of Duck

Mallard is painted with images that depict the history of the Town of Duck along with things such as wildlife, flora, and fauna that are found in Duck. Each image is numbered and indexed with the artist name, image title, and image description.
