Robin Holt Book Talk & Signing
March 24 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Please join Duck’s Cottage, the Town of Duck and the Outer Banks History Center for an evening with Roanoke Island native and author Robin Holt on Tuesday, March 24. Robin is a local history buff, genealogy researcher and keeper of lost things. She is of the ninth generation of the Daniels family of Wanchese, and twelfth generation in the Midgett family from Hatteras Island.
She has recently written and published My Daily Bounded Realm: A Journal of Daily Life in the Outer Banks in 1900 a book she conceived as a journal her great-great-grandmother may have written during the year 1900, just after two devastating hurricanes swamped Hatteras Island leaving life more fragile than ever. Inspired by actual journals she found in the archives of the OBHC written by a Pine lsland woman at the turn of the century, she weaves imagined journal entries with incredible historical research to explain what day-to-day life was like during those times. Robin will be in conversation with Jamie Anderson, owner of Duck’s Cottage Coffee & Books, and will take audience questions and be signing books after the talk. Please join us all in welcoming Robin to Duck and learning more about the history of the Outer Banks.
