PROPERTY CHECKS
- 151 business checks were made. 1 unsecured door was found.
- 1 extra patrol was requested by an out-of-town property owner this week.
INCIDENTS OF INTEREST
- Injury to Property (Duck Road and Jay Crest Drive)
On June 22, 2026, officers found damage to Town property near the Town line. Pictures from surveillance videos were posted on Police social media asking for assistance to help identify the perpetrator.
- Careless and Reckless Driving (Gifford Circle and Bayberry Drive)
On June 22, 2026, officers responded to a report of juveniles operating a golf cart in a reckless manner. Officers spoke with the minors and their parents about the regulations and proper operation of golf carts in the Town of Duck.
- Domestic Dispute (Duck Road and Trinitie Drive)
On June 23, 2026, officers responded to a dispute that began inside a northbound vehicle. During the dispute, a phone was damaged, and one party exited the vehicle before officers arrived. Officers spoke with all involved parties and assisted with arrangements for the parties to separate while emotions subsided.
- Injury to Property (Duck Road)
On June 24, 2026, officers responded to a report of a damaged birdhouse. The birdhouse was found knocked over and slightly damaged. Officers were unable to determine whether the damage was caused by strong winds or human involvement.
- Dispute (Duck Road)
On June 24, 2026, officers responded to a local business for a dispute. A misunderstanding occurred after a child selected a toy and, once it was purchased, realized it was not what they wanted. The customer accused the business of selling generic toys, while the business owner advised that all items were displayed in their original packaging. The incident appeared to be a case of buyer’s remorse.
- Dispute (Duck Landing Lane)
On June 25, 2026, officers responded to a dispute reported by a passerby. The investigation determined that a tense interaction occurred between a father and son after the father took the son’s phone as a form of discipline. Some pushing occurred while the son attempted to retrieve the phone, but no injuries were reported by either party.
- E-bike crash (Duck Road and Ocean Bay Boulevard)
On June 27, 2026, officers responded to a reported bicycle accident near North Duck Water Sports. A 69-year-old male reportedly wrecked an E-bike after striking a puddle of water on the sidewalk. Fire and EMS responded, and officers assisted on scene.
- Injury to Property (Duck Road and Four Seasons Lane)
On June 27, 2026, an officer observed a teenager rubbing a rock against a power box along the walking path north of Four Seasons. The teenager stated there were already numbers etched into the box and that he wanted to do the same. The officer advised him not to damage the property.
TRAFFIC CRASHES
- Duck Road
On June 22, 2026, officers responded to an LSV vs bicycle crash. Investigation found the bicyclist was riding north in the bike lane and a northbound LSV was attempting to make a right turn into a driveway. The bicyclist collided with the LSV. Minor injuries were reported.
- Duck Road
On June 27, 2026, officers responded to a reported hit-and-run involving a rental vehicle. The investigation determined that a vehicle backed into an unoccupied vehicle, causing damage. The driver left a note with contact information, later returned to the scene, and both parties were provided with a driver information exchange form.
- Duck Road
On June 27, 2026, a northbound vehicle slowed for traffic. The following vehicle failed to stop before colliding with the first vehicle. No apparent injuries were reported.
