TRAFFIC

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 126business checks were made.No unsecured doors were found.

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST 

  • Assist Person (Duck Road and Seabreeze Drive)

On February 1, 2026, officers assisted an individual whose vehicle got stuck in the snow.

  • Open Door (Dune Road)

On February 2, 2026, officers were contacted by the homeowner who was notified by a neighbor who observed a door standing open. The neighbor shut the door during the snow event. Officers were asked to enter the home to make sure no criminal activity had occurred. Officers found the home to be secure. 

  • Fraud (Duck Road)

On February 3, 2026, an individual reported a package containing checks missing from his mailbox. Tracking information indicated the checks had been delivered. The bank that issued the checks canceled the checks. 

  • Arrest (Duck Road)

On February 4, 2026, officers responded after management caught an employee of the business stealing lottery tickets and not paying for food products. Officers arrested 56-year-old Yvonne Beard of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and charged her with larceny by employee.  Beard was given a $2,500 unsecured bond.

  • Injury to Property (Spyglass Road)

On February 5, 2026, an individual reported that her water meter box was damaged. The individual saw a large delivery truck earlier in the day and thought the truck might have run over the water meter box.  Pictures of the damaged water meter box were taken and the Dare County Water Department was notified.

  • Drug Violation (Duck Road)

On February 6, 2026, officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The officers detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.  The driver was charged with speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia.  

  • Suspicious Condition (Four Seasons Lane)

On February 7, 2026, officers were dispatched to the area after a homeowner observed an individual on camera trying to enter several doors at the residence. Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as an employee of a local rental company who was checking on the rental property.
