TRAFFIC
- Officers issued 24 traffic enforcement actions during the week.
- No e-bike enforcement actions were taken during the week.
PROPERTY CHECKS
- 166 business checks were made. No unsecured doors were found.
- No extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.
INCIDENTS OF INTEREST
- Noise Disturbance (West Bias Drive)
On May 3, 2026, officers were dispatched to a large party in the area. Upon arrival, the party goers quicky dispersed without incident.
- 911 Abandoned Call (Station Bay Drive)
On May 3, 2026, officers were dispatched to an abandoned 911 call at a residence. The residence was unoccupied and it was determined to be an ongoing issue with the phone line.
- Larceny (Schooner Ridge Drive)
On May 3, 2026, a caller reported that two rocking chairs were taken from her front porch at some point over the past three weeks. The case was turned over to the investigator for follow-up.
- General Law Call (Duck Road / Ocean Pines Drive)
On May 3, 2026, a caller reported seeing what was believed to be a couple arguing in a moving vehicle. The vehicle was located and stopped. Following an investigation, officers determined that no argument had occurred and the parties were sent on their way.
- Drug Violation (Duck Road / Sound Sea Avenue)
On May 3, 2026, following a motor vehicle stop, the driver was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was charged with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and released on a citation.
- 911 Abandoned Call (Station Bay Drive)
On May 4, 2026, officers were dispatched to an abandoned 911 call at a residence. The residence was unoccupied and it was determined to be an ongoing issue with the phone line.
- Defrauding an Innkeeper (Duck Road)
On May 6, 2026, officers were dispatched to a report of two subjects who left the restaurant without paying their bill. Upon further investigation, it appeared accidental. Investigator Gilreath was able to locate contact information for the individuals, and they were able to remedy the situation with management.
- Suspicious Condition (Georgetown Sands Road)
On May 6, 2026, the caller reported he received a notification from his electronic lock that it was being tampered with. The residence was checked and found to be secure with no signs of forced entry.
TRAFFIC CRASHES
- Station Bay Drive / Duck Road
On May 9, 2026, two vehicles were stopped at the stop sign on Station Bay Drive facing Duck Road. The first vehicle began reversing and struck the second vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle, Jose De Bautista Hernandez, a 25-year-old male of Kissimmee, Florida, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was lodged in the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of a $3,000.00 secured bond.
